This thing...

I do this thing...on nights when I am in bed before the hubs. (Which seems to be often these days because of *cough*baseball and the start of football season. yay. note: sarcasm. Also please note, I have not minded recently because I've been too tired to care.)

I have the whole bed to myself. I like to spread out. But, its for a very specific reason. You see...I like to sleep on his pillow before he gets up there. It's softer. It's more plush. It has his smell on it. It's comforting.

But truly, that is not the reason.

I secretly like when he comes up to bed, and has to wake me up to push gently nudge me to my side. Because, if I do not sleep on his side then I don't even notice him coming to bed until I start to wake the next morning. The gentle nudge push onto my side an hour or two after I'm asleep gives me that comforting feeling that he's there now. I think I sleep better.

And so, that's my secret. That's why I sleep on his side and on his pillow on nights when I'm in bed before him.

Odd? yea. I know.

We all have our quirks.

ps: happy friday! 5 day weeks suck. I think we should all vote for 4 day work weeks and 3 day weekends. fo'real.

  1. Maybe that's why my husband always used to sleep on my side of the bed before I came to bed! Now he's the one who's up late, so I'm in first and I love it because I love the sheets and pillow being cold when I first lay down! I understand your motives though. I feel much better when I know my husband is there with me.

  3. The school districts around here recently went to 4 day weeks. I am wondering AGAIN why I did not become a teacher!

And I do the same thing with the bed if I'm in bed first!

  4. Aw, that's sweet! :)

I have a somewhat funny story of my own. Back in college, a bunch of girls and I rented a hotel room with double queen beds during spring break. It had been a long day and so I went to bed a bit early. Apparently, not only did I take over the entire bed, but when my friend tried to get me to move to make room, I said "ok" and then didn't move. Hah.

  6. I know what you mean about about feeling better once you know he is in bed next to you. I don't think it is quirky at all, actually I may try that. Except for the most part I find it hard to fall asleep if my hubs is not next to me. Missed reading your blog, it has been crazy. But I did catch the scarf tying one and now I more than just one way to wear my scarves. Thanks!!!!

  7. so i do the same thing for the same reason! Jorden gets so annoyed because he has to shove me off his side just to come to bed, but i really feel so much better when he's in bed with me! When he was in italy for 10 days i couldn't even fall asleep in our bed i just laid on the couch and watched TV until i fell asleep there!

  8. I love it! I think I do the same thing, but for a different reason. I like the feel of cold crisp sheets and so I spread out to steal that from husband. :) He doesn't care if the sheets aren't cold.

  9. I do the exact same thing for the exact same reason. I do tend to sleep better once I know he's in bed next to me.

  10. Oh that is so sweet! I can't wait to be married and have someone to share the bed with like that! Right now, my body pillow will have to do!

  11. Danny gets *cranky* if I get on his side because it gets so hot and he wants it to be so cold which reminds me that I too have become used to sleeping with a fan.... fun fun

  12. Not odd in the least. I do the same thing. :)

And when I get up in the morning, Bri grabs my pillow and hugs it.

I love being cute like that.

  13. That's too funny, because I love sleeping on hubby's pillow when he gets up in the morning before me. I always move over to his side to use his pillow and then he comes and kisses me goodbye when he leaves (and I'm still asleep in bed!)

On another note, I would so second you on that 4 day work week & 3 day weekend deal! :-) Happy Friday!!!

  14. Haha! I laugh because I do the same thing to my hubby, even if we get in bed at the same time. Although by morning I'm fully on my side because he has this tendency to flail his arms randomly when he sleeps, and he's hit me in the face a few times, ha!

  15. hmmm i should try this because i always hate when i go to bed first and then wake in the morning and wonder when he even came to bed and why i don't remember it. thanks for the tip! haha

and yes, i completely agree on the 4 day weeks!

  16. I am SO in for that!! How cute... I can't sleep on Jer's side. He burrows when he sleeps - not kidding here. so his side of the bed has this total SLOPE to it. I fall off if i lay over there.

  18. haha, that's cute. Bret can nudge me and I will even have conversations with him... but do I remember the next morning, no ma'am! Sad.

  20. How very sweet :) I usually just need to be really close to him, so I always almost end up pushing him off the bed :)
And aren't you glad it's the weekend in a few hrs?!! Happy friday!

  21. Aww thats very sweet!

Every morning after my hubby leaves I roll over to his side and cuddle his pillow.
    heehee.
    Don't tell him though.
He might think I like him or something! lol

    Happy weekend!

  22. That's cute! I cocoon myself with all our pillows (which is a lot because we each use three.)Makes me feel safe till he gets there:)

  23. I totally get that. I hate sleeping when Hubby is out of town or even when he falls asleep on the couch watching tv. It's more difficult to sleep without him next to me.

  24. Too funny...I do the exact same thing!!!! I like knowing when my hubby comes to bed when I'm sleeping.
