Unveil Yourself. I dare you.

I have a lot of really awesome faithful readers. It's kind of humbling, scratch that--really humbling considering I never, ever, ever meant this blog to be a public place that I'd lay it all out there, be brutally honest (almost to a fault), and spill my guts to the world.

Yet here I am. Telling you everything you did not want to know about me and more. I told you, honest-to-a-fault. My sweet husband reminds me that its NOT a bad thing, and he really thinks that's one reason people feel connected-because of that honesty. I secretly think you all just like to laugh at me when you hear I pee my pants when I throw up, or hear that I wait weeeeks before putting away laundry and let it sit in piles on the floor, but--whatev. ;)

I'll be honest. Your comments are sweet, encouraging and oh-so-amusing at times, and I love you for it. But? I'd still be here writing away if none of you were here reading. Heck, I totally blogged for 8'ish years with no one but my sister and quite possibly my mother reading (hi mom!).

But, now that you're here...I want to know who you are. Pretty please? I see the numbers beyond my 'followers'. I know there are people out there...a very, very, good amount of you lovelies (I always assume you're all women...are you?...muahah...)--so if you're one of those, who doesn't tend to comment, but reads pretty regularly. Fess up. It's time to come out of the closet de-lurk yourself. Nothing more creepy then a silent stalker, right? :) But, lets just all be friends.

So.

Regular commenter or NOT. Tell me some things about yourself.
Now. Go. Do. It.
Besides, I'm pregnant. Hormonal. Some-what grumpy. Pretty sore at times. Trying to avoid more uncessary contractions. [Don't be the reason I go into pre-mature labor!]

What's your name? Where are you from? How long have you been hanging around these parts? Do you come to secretly just laugh at me? Because honestly...that's okay if you do. Do you like candy more then cake? Because I honestly don't know what it is with me--but I would prefer candy over cake-like-items any day.

...and if no one unveils them self I'm just going to go hide under a rock too...and see how you like it. [This grumpy pregnant woman gig is working out quite well. I like it.]

  1. My name is Allison and I am from Cincinnati, OH. I started coming around during your scarf swap (which I was extremely jealous of all the cute scarves everyone got!). I stuck around cause I really like how you write, not to laugh at you :). You and your husband have a similar story to my husband and I, we've been together for 8 years (since I was 16 him 18).
Oh and cake or candy? Now that depends on what kind. Cupcakes-white with buttercream frosting is my fav, but if I had to pick between that or a Hershey Kiss with almonds it would be tough!

And I like cake more than candy, hehee. :)

  4. I guess I'll be the first! I'm Katie, and I've been following since pretty early in your pregnancy. My husband and I are TTC, but I haven't mentioned it on my blog because I'm nervous that it's going to take a while, but I love coming over hear and reading about what being pregnant is like!

  5. hi, I live in DC. I just started following your blog. Cute blog, by the way. I read about your "Simply Love Swap" and I thought "it's such a creative idea" so i read some of your stuff and I liked it.
Well about me: I'm a patent paralegal who is trying to escape being a patent paralegal through my blog. Really, I need to find something much more challenging in my life than coming in to work and revising patents/working on patent prosecution, etc.
I love creative people, but for some reason I am not creative enough to find something that I truly love more than writing...so i read other bloggers' stuff and write my own blog.
I've been married for almost 2 years (March 29) and plan on trying to have children sometime soon. I am a Christian and that's a huge part of my life: trying to live as a Christian day-by-day.
I love my husband, my friends, and my family and I don't like cooking.

I love reading your blog because you're honest, witty, and funny! =.) Depends on my mood, whether I like candy or cake better. Probably, I'm more of a cake and brownie person, though.

There you have it. Have a great day, Katie! =.)

I don't remember when exactly I started reading your blog, but I think I just naturally gravitate to any blogs of expectant mothers, as I have 2 little ones- Ethan is almost 4 and Emma is 7 months. I always like to read about other womans' pregnancies and becoming mommies. Congrats by the way!

They kept talking about a few blogs that I'd never heard of, but suggested I check out. Yours was one of them!! What they said was absolutely true.... you're cuter than a button and fun to read.

Cake and Candy are equally delicious, in my book, lol.

Your little one in heaven truly captured my heart, and now it's wonderful to read about all your adventures being pregnancy with Baby Girl! I have grumpiness too today, I'm so sick of the snow! And I typically like cake over candy, but that changes on random days! :)

  36. Hi, my name is Amanda. I live in Tyler, Texas. I am a 29 year old wife (it will be 7 years on March 1) and mommy to an 18 month old little boy. I work full-time and I am finishing my bachelor's degree up this semester after a long school hiatus. I discovered your blog around the time of your scarf swap and have stuck around. I love how honest & witty you are. Your pregnancy stories remind me of my own pregnancy and I can't help but chuckle a little but its not at you instead it is with you because I so remember thinking I way not normal during pregnancy.
I am a cake-lover but would be torn if I had to choose between milky way candy bar or cake so I have found a compromise...it is a milky way cake. HMMM

  38. Hi Katie!
I'm Kishah! From Michigan. I started reading your blog summer 2009 when I found it at Jorden and Kristin's blog (Kristin is a real-life and blogger friend of mine!) I try not to be silent and post comments on your blog. I continue to read your blog because you're fun and funny! I always look forward to reading your posts!

I totally understand what you mean--I've been blogging for almost 7 years now and I only started to share my blog with friends this summer--I only have 2 followers (not including my family and some friends who follow me secretly and occasionally leave a comment) but I don't care! I post to Bloggy (how I call my blog)

A little about me: I hate chocolate but love love love Caramel--although I haven't had it since November (doctor's orders)--I am a wanna-be cancer survivor (won't find out until March) and loves to make any kind of crafts. I just graduated in May with a Master of Architecture!

Looking forward to being long-time blogger friends! :)

I have baby fever so I love hearing about all things pregnancy related. And can I just say you are one of the cutest pregnant ladies ever?! Actually last night my best friend and I were talking about baby names (even though neither of us is pregnant or trying - I told you, FEVER!), and she said she really likes the name Declan. I was like "that's Katie's husband's name!" :)

  40. Hi, I'm Rachel! I'm a regular commenter and have been here for a few months, I love your candid way of writing and your preggo stories, as I can typically relate to most of them haha. I live in NC because that's where the Marine Corps decided for us to live but I'm a true Maryland gal. I HATE cake and much prefer candy, especially chewy candy. Starbursts, yum. What a cute idea to get to know your readers (and creepers haha)

  41. Don't mean to be vague, but I have a blog and don't mention my name or location, but generally speaking I live in the mid-atlantic region. I'm a new reader and love reading about your pregnancy, since it wasn't too long ago since I was. I have a 7 month old little one. She's amazing, but doesn't run our lives. We strive as a family to still be individuals as well as a family unit. It may sound strange, but it works great for us! Good luck with giving birth, it's really an experience no words can capture.

I'm 23 from Pittsburgh, PA. I just got married :) in September 09. I'm currently in nursing school and we are approaching our OB rotation and though I've never been pregnant, I know a lot about it now! I just got word last night that I've been selected for the next round of interviews for a nursing internship so that's my exciting news!

I love reading all your posts and I never laugh at you ;) (Okay, maybe a little, but only when you pee your pants!)....

Cake and Candy, really, you're going to make a girl pick one or the other!? I suppose I'd probably like candy on any given day but nothing beats a *really* good piece of cake!

Last, I am so in love with the new picture of your pup on the left over there! I keep telling my husband, I just don't understand how anyone could live their life without a little yorkie!

I thought you were funny and honest and that's why I keep coming back. I've been married over 2 years. We are just now starting TTC so following along in your pregnancy is eye-opening for me. I love how you put it all out there for the world. It makes people like me feel a little less scared about the whole TTC journey.

  63. Even though, I comment fairly regularly, I'm joining in!

Hi Katie! I'm Amanda. I am from Nashville, TN. You actually found my blog this summer and commented. I came to your blog to check it out and realized how similar we are! We are the same age (well, I just turned 25!), we are both teachers, we have been with our husbands for about the same amount of time, we both have adorable puppies, and we have similar decorating styles! So, of course, I loved your blog instantly! Plus, your posts were just fun to read. I was hooked. Then, I found out you were pregnant and I was even more hooked. I'm a little baby/pregnancy obsessed and love reading about it. And you probably know the answer to the last question! I LOVE LOVE LOVE cake (or cupcakes)! So, cake over candy, any day! :)

I am going to be emailing you and tweeting you to find out the down low on everything that I need to know when I get pregnant. You guys have been through so much but God has so much in store for both of you. I so love the new header. Declan did good! And just for the record, if it has chocolate I will eat it (especially reeses peanut butter cups, extra peanut butter please :))But I do love cakes too. And just about any kind of cake. So I know I probably seem odd at times I love reading about ya'll and everything that is happening!

We just got a lovely little puppy that is the love of our lives. :-) I'm finishing grad school, job hunting, and playing housewife all at the same time!

  73. Hi Katie! I'm Jordan, and I've recently moved from Memphis to Kansas City! I've been following for a few months (though not exactly sure how I got here the first time). Hmm.. something about me... I've been married to my husband for almost 2 years now, no kids yet but we do have a very large "fur baby", our lab, Cayne! Also, I share your love for Sour Patch Kids (my favorite, too)!

  74. Look at all the comments your getting on this one!! So exciting..

I comment on a regular basis.. but here you go.
Name is Jessica. I'm originally from Massachusetts... lived there for 13 years, then lived in SC for my next 13 years, now live in OK for just a few months, and will be moving to TX in May :) Pleaseee don't make me choose between candy and cakes. One thing I'm not crazy about though? Pastries.

    PS- I love the layout!

  76. My name is Mari. I have been reading your blog for QUITE some time. I was a part-time lurker/part-time commenter(?) on your old LJ(the one with the kurlz name). I remember randomly coming across your LJ WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY back in the day. I think it was because I did a search for fellow PA people, who lived in the same part of the state that I did, had had similar interests. Now I probably do seem like a super stalker. It was so long ago I honestly don't remember. I think you might have been starting college when I read it or maybe it was even earlier. I don't remember. I know we talked a bit because I was an Education major as well. I remember talking about your brother's wedding, so it's been at least that long!

When you made the switch to the blog, I just continued reading. I never switched over from an lj to a blog(I'm a faithful LJer and still use that) But recently I created a blog as part of an Emerging Technology class that I am taking through Wilkes. Since you posted this blog and I have one now, I thought it would be time to introduce myself(again? haha).

You've always been able to express yourself in a way that I wish I could(gosh that sounds so creepy!) I too, am a teacher and your funny stories and thoughts on the profession remind me of my students and the stories I'd tell if I was able to write down my thoughts more. It's also been neat to see how much change there has been since I first met you on LJ. I think the story of you and Delcan is just too sweet. He needs to give my boyfriend some pointers. ;)

Now I'm done sounding like a creeper and I have de-lurked myself. ;D

  77. I am Legally Fabulous.
I like to keep my blog anonymous so I can say whatever I want about the people in my life. I am not very patient and people make me angry a lot. Twitter and the blog are my outlet. ha.

I don't know how I found your blog but I've been reading it for a while. Don't always comment, but always read! :)

  78. I'm Michel-lee from Kentucky *Go Big Blue*. I have a cooking blog. I found your blog through Mrs A. She did your scarf swap and I was so disappointed that I missed it (hope you do another one). I was thrilled to have participated with the Simple-Love swap. I've never swapped before and it has inspired me to do my own. I have two that I'm working on.

  79. well i'm certainly no lurker but i'm proud to say that i was your very first follower... in fact the only reason you started blogging ohhh over 9 years ago was because i told you to! haha! it's funny to see how far we've come. lol!

  80. Katie! I live in South GA and am a childhood friend of Angela Kolachny. She sent me your blog link several months back and i've been following ever since. I'm 26 weeks pregnant with a girl so I can totally relate to your experiences and enjoy knowing others are out there in the same boat! I really enjoy your posts!

  81. I comment quite a bit (well except lately when I've been swamped a work!), but I'll tell you about myself anyway.

I'm Cassie from Oklahoma and I'm not quite sure how long I've been reading your blog. Since before this pregnancy...btw I'm loving all your posts on everything preggo!

I'm can be slightly OCD and completely identify with Monica on Friends, I adore ice cream cake, have two adorable puppies, love nothing more than curling up on the couch to read blogs or watch movies, I negotiate contracts for a living, and what else...I'm currently in the middle of decorating my home which has been so much fun!

I read your blog because I admire the relationship you have with your husband (at least what you talk about on the blog) and hope to find someone like that to spend my life with, I think you have the cutest style when it comes to fashion and decorating, and I do like that your honest here...it shows your a real person and I can totally relate to some of the things you blog about.

    Have a good day!

  82. Hi Katie, It's your Mom and I just love reading about your day! You always make me giggle and My favorite parts are the funny things that the kids say at school and comparing your pregnancy with my pregnancies with you and the other siblings. Candy is definately better than cake unless it is your "cupcakes" that come delivered to work with Love on Valentines Day! I love you sweetie!

  84. Hi Katie, I live in Sunny South Florida where all the snow birds migrate to from up North during the winter months. I started blogging just about a year ago, in hopes to meet others with my same interest. I am simply amazed at all the beautiful talented women out in blogland. I will be 20 years married in December to my husband who was my 1st boyfriend when I was 15 years old. I have two kids a boy 17 and daughter 14. Wanted three children but after 2 miscarriages, I felt blessed that I was given two wonderful gifts and decided not to try for me. Being pregnat was a beautiful experience I would not change. Enjoy your little one and take lots of videos as they grow so quickly. In fact this week, my son pulled out the old videos and we have been spending time as a family this week re-living those years. You wonder where the time went and miss those days. I wish you the best! Oh, I actually didn't find you, my sister did and send me the link to join your Simply love swap. I started her blogging this past October.

  85. Hi! I'm Jess!

I'm a full time gymnastics coach in not so sunny at the moment south Fl. I recently got married in october and bought our first house the month before that.

I have a four month old furbaby Kado, our red doberman. Hes just as hyper as a 4 year old.

I;ve horseback ridden my entire life and im still a country-fied girl in a big town.

I hate tomatoes and onions, although I dont mind thier flavor? Weird isnt it? and I leave my laundy out without folding it for a week at a time sometimes too. Actually it gets pulled out of the dryer ontime but it gets piled on the bed and then pushed onto the carpet at night when I've forgotten to fold it. Opps!

  88. hi there! Don't quite remember how i found your blog but i'm quite the little lurker over here. Not sure how long i've been a lurker but your blog is one of my faves :)

I'm Heidi, I live in Stamford, CT and blog over at legallyheidi.com.

i prefer cake - specifically cupcakes - to any type of candy. If they're strawberry cupcakes I'll be your friend for LIFE. Kind of like Dug. In "Up"

  89. Well, I'm no newbie ;o) But I thought I'd tell you about myself in case you didn't know...

I've been married for 1 year and 5 months, I'm almost 30, I'm from Boise, ID, I have my degree in communications, I work full time as an admin assistant and part time as a DJ, I am the oldest of 3, and I'm obsessed with my nephew, who's 18 months old.

I feel like this should end with NBC's "The More You Know" theme song. LOL!

  90. Hi I'm Tracey from NSW in Australia...i cant remember how i stumbled onto your blog but since about a month ago i have been addicted to it. I love your quirkiness and can totally relate to your almost honest to a fault-ness. Thats me as well to a t! On that note can i just say something that has been bothering me....when you use 'then' in place of 'than', ie.'Nothing more creepy then a silent stalker, right?'. Just one of my pet hates....
Anyways, keep up the great blog!

I comment regularly and follow you :) What a fun idea...it's so nice to really get to know your readers.

I am from Illinois. I am a teacher too, so I love your cute stories. And I would have to pass up both the candy and cake for some chips and dip!

  94. I found your blog through another blog that mentioned a swap you were having a few months back and have been following ever since! I am from Texas. I think your blog is especially fun to read for me because I am pregnant too (though only 10 weeks along) but I get to read about all the things I am/will go through and it's comforting. I LOVE how brutally honest you are, and it's hilarious. Not many people tell you about the horribly unglamorous moments of pregnancy, so I'm glad someone is honest!

  96. I'm a little late to the ball game, but here goes anyway.
My name is actually Hilary. Most bloggy friends think it's Lane because I started my blog as Hi, Lane (for Hilary Lane), but I've changed it so that I hopefully don't confuse anymore people, although, I'm sure changing it has just caused more confusion. I live in a beach town in SC (if you want to know where, you can e-mail me :-)). I found your blog a couple of months before baby girl came along, although, I wish I had seen some of your wedding recaps a couple of months before when I was planning my wedding, because we had a lot of similar things (go chocolate, hot pink & orange wedding cake!!) & I probably could've gotten some ideas. And I'm definitely team candy. Oh, and I only win WWF purely by luck!

  97. Hi, I'm Alysha. I'm from CO, and I love reading your blog. Your honesty is just so refreshing, and I have so much fun reading. I've only been reading since this summer, but I'm totally hooked. And definitely Team Candy over here. Reese's and gummies are my fave, but I really love it all.

  98. Hey! My name is Katherine Anne and I became a follower sometime in January 2010, right around the Simply Love Swap signup. I laugh WITH you most of the time ;). I live in Louisiana (email me if you want to know exactaly which city). I hang around because I think you are really funny and you seem to have a really kind heart. I like to think that I read blogs that are written by people I would be friends with IRL if we ever met.

    Lots of love,
    KA

Oh and as for the cake vs. candy situation...I am a candy person but I have never been known to turn down a slice of cake!

Weird, I know! Thanks for the valentine's giveaway! It was so much fun!

I think if I had to choose, I would totally pick chocolate candy over cake, but I like both!!!

  105. I just found your blog yesterday, so this was my first post to read, but you come on recommendation from a blog I love, so...

I'm Leslie. I live in the Atlanta area. I have been blogging for a number of years on and off, but I've only recently started finding and friending bloggers I don't know in real life. So. Much. Fun.

Already I love your humor (and I assure you I laugh with you, not at you, as so far all the mentions you've made I empathize with). I, too prefer candy to cake, unless the cake-like-thing is Tiramisu and then I'd just about give you my right arm for a good piece. :)

I started blogging while I was overseas for a month and then never gave it up! I enjoy reading about your everyday musings and pregnancy. I'm definitely laughing with you and not at you! You always tell it like it is! Hope you had a great day!

I try not to be a silent stalker, so by all means...it is nice knowing you!

  113. Hello there!!! I am Jamie. I am 28 (almost 29) years old and live in Northern California. 114. Hey there, I'm not new commenter, but thought I would join in anyway. My name is Alicia and I am from St. Louis. I have been blogging for about 2 years. I have never been really consistent in blogging on a daily basis, but I love to do it when I can. I have been reading your blog since last Spring/Summer. Intially, all the baby talk lured me in, but you crack me up with your fun and creative daily blogs. Oh and I like candy better than cake, unless of course it is my mom's homemade red velvet then I would definitely choose cake.

  115. I know. I'm late to the de-lurking, unveiling party. I'm usually late...

There you go, something about me. I was usually early, or on time, until I got married. Not that my husband makes me late, but I swear just taking his last name brought on the chronic lateness that EVERYBODY in his stinkin' family is cursed w/. & now our daughter will probably be late to everything, too. *sigh*

I'm Sara. From a Note on the Screen Door. Or maybe you meant from Alabama. I've been reading your blog for, oh, a couple months, I guess, since I got really serious about the blogging thing (which I LOVE!).

    & I love your blog.

& honestly, it depends on the frosting. If it's cream cheese frosting, then heck, yeah, cake takes it, hands down. But if it's that icky whip creamy "buttercream" stuff, then, eh, I'd probably rather just have a Reese's peanut butter egg. Or anything Godiva. Which is really the only candy I'm interested in.

& I'm so glad Google Reader takes me from newest to oldest, because now I know you won't be annoyed w/ me because I HAVE an email address on my profile, & it's YEP, just for blogging, just like I have another one just for the shops I want the email deals from, & another one for the family/personal stuff.

    Have a good day!

  116. What's your name? Where are you from? How long have you been hanging around these parts? Do you come to secretly just laugh at me? Because honestly...that's okay if you do. Do you like candy more then cake? Because I honestly don't know what it is with me--but I would prefer candy over cake-like-items any day.

Hey ...I'm laura (cowboybootsbabybooties chick) and I'm a SAHM to 4...currently preggers w/#5...am i crazy? depends on who you ask!
I'm from the great state of texas and been reading your blog...well since i saw a link on someone's page about ur love swap! then i felt a soft spot b/c ur pregnant too....always nice having someone else going through the same thing whether it's ur 1st or 50th!
ummm i haven't laughed at you yet...is that a bad thing?
as for cake...omg i could soooo go for cake....doesn't matter...but it has to have icing on it!!!

  117. Hi! I saw this post a couple days ago but I mostly read blogs when I'm bored at work so I can't comment and by the time I get home I forget. I'm Andi, from Kansas. I've been reading for a couple of weeks or so. I've made a lot of cakes and cup cakes recently so I'd hafta say cake. But then again I dont really eat many of them myself, my fiance eats most of em. Though one kind of cupcake I made had kit kats on them mmmmm kit kat.

  118. Hi Katie, I'm Ashley from just north of Austin, TX. I totally forgot to comment right when I read this blog. I'm good at that. So, here I am a week later. I've commented a couple of times, and I've been reading your blog for almost a year now. The "baby talk" is what keeps me entertained and I come to laugh with you and only sometimes at you. My favorite thing about your blog is looking at your gorgeous pictures. I prefer Sour Patch Kids to cake. I never answer my phone, I let vm get it. I'm currently unemployed, and thinking about going back to school. I'm a cat person, not a dog person. I think that about covers it.
