Since I'm honest...

You know me...I'm honest. I've been honest about evvverything this entire pregnancy. I've had people specifically ask me to please keep up the honesty even post-partum. What the heck-let's start now shall we?

Minutes after pushing her out I put my hands on my belly. 'What the heck' I thought...that firm baby belly is suddenly jello. Actually, I wasn't concerned about what it looked like, I was more in denial that 'holy crap a few minutes ago this baby was IN me...and now....now this baby is OUT of me!?!' [Seriously....still amazes me.]

But, back to the jello belly.

It's weird. I'm not self-conscious about the extra weight around my mid-section right now. If I have a cute little baby by my side, nobody stares at the belly--all they care about is the sweetness radiating from little Emeline's face. And also--I'm not superhuman. Not everyone's stomach goes down to what it looked like pre-pregnancy right away. I'm not one of those girls.

In efforts to 'keep it real'...here are a few shots of my 5-day post-partum belly.

(and yes...I realize I look pregnant still, but to my defense my uterus still isn't exactly back to normal yet)

...and now, in efforts to erase that from your memory--

a cute baby picture:

...or two.
Happy Friday!

PS: Get ready for the birth story Monday...

  2. I still look a bit pregnant. I'm sticking with the idea of 9 months to put the weight on, 9 months to take it off... I only have 2 months left. Whoops!

    Emeline is just adorable.

  7. I still remember that as soon as I gave birth, all of the nurses excitedly said, "Oh, Gina, look at your belly!!!" It had deflated. A LOT. I thought I was one of those lucky ones.

Until it took me TWO YEARS to get my pre-baby belly left.

Thanks for the honesty. I am going to go take a photo of my 24 week belly now and fess up to my weight gain....

  9. 1. It does take a while for most women's uterus to return to normal. But it will. That's key.

    2. You look great! You really do! As a trainer, who actually works mostly with women post-partum, I've seen HUGE BELLIES on women months after baby emerged. Not good. There's a science behind it that is entirely too scary, let me tell you, but that being said, you look good! You'll be back to normal in no time! Don't worry!

    3. Love the honesty.

    4. She's even more precious today than yesterday, if that's possible.

    5. I want to borrow all head wear your child has for my future child.

    Love you to pieces, girl!

  17. I'm sure she is worth every second of still having a bit of the belly around. Pretty soon the belly will be gone, but you will have her forever!

  18. I so appreciate the honesty! Sometimes I feel like the only mommy blogger who wasn't back to her pre-pregnancy weight within a week of giving birth. Heck, I'm STILL not. But that's another story for another day...

  24. I adore her headbands, so cute!!!

You look great for 5 days out. They say you look 20 w pregnant after birth so you are just normal :-). Nature has a way of putting everything back in place in due time.

  25. Yeah for you! There is a lot of pressure to go back to wearing your prepregnancy jeans right away...but for a lot of us, that's just not reality. And your little girl is so darling (seriously...I could eat her) who really cares?

  26. She is gorgeous!! And you are beautiful!!xoxo

  27. You look great! Especially for a BRAND NEW MOMMA! Emeline is so darling! Sorry, but no one else in the room is getting any attention at all as long as that little sweetheart is around. You have plenty of time to get back to rock hard abs, you know if you like that sort of thing.

  28. And this, my friend, is why I love you so much! :-)

Also, I know you know this, but holy crap she is just gorgeous!

  29. I love her little crocheted headband! She is adorable :) Be patient, the belly will go away in time. You are right though, everyone will be staring at little Emeline anyway!
