Few Words

Fact: It's only cute to have cankles when you're a baby*. And thigh-rolls. And a buddha belly. And...and...well, you get it.

*Speaking of "baby". Just how long am I allowed to use that term? She still feels like a baby to me. She's not 1 yet, therefore? Still a baby. Right? Right? Do they become "toddlers" the when they turn 1 or is it later? If so, I have a few weeks left of having a baby, and that fact alone makes me want to cry a little bit. Sigh.

Happy Wednesday

  1. They are officially toddlers at about 18 months. At least that's the way I see it because most daycare toddler rooms start at 18 months. Before that they are infants. Of course some children are ready for the toddler room at 15 or 16 months. Either way you have a few more months of baby!

  2. She is so freaking cute! Love the little white chair too.

I often wondered about the baby/infant/toddler terms too.

  3. So cute. Where did you get the shirt? Also, so proud of you and your sister for the weight loss! I lost 130# with WW 6 years ago and now 4 kids in 3 years later, I'm faced with a 20-25# weight loss need again... thanks for the inspiration! I have a 10 1/2 month old, starting to plan the 1st birthday and she definitely still my baby. Lot of random stuff here in my comment... hope you have a good day!

  4. My 2 1/2 year old is still my "baby"! She will be my baby until she's 40 I think! My little one is 14 months and I still consider her a baby, but I also sometimes refer to her as a toddler. I transitioned from "baby" to "toddler" when she started walking (at 13 months). So....you use the term "baby" as long as you see fit....you're in charge ;-)! She is adorable by the way. I've been stalking (errrr um, following) your blog for a while, and I LOVE it. Emeline is precious!

  7. Great photos as usual.

FTR, she is still a baby till she can tell you not to call her a baby. And then you just do it more quietly, anyway. ;)

  9. My daughter just turned two a few weeks ago and the other night we were at my in-law's and she was playing on the floor with her great grandmother and it was like right then and there I saw her transform from baby to toddler. I've seen it coming for a while, but it was like right then I knew, she really wasn't a baby anymore. I felt my heart kinda melt is a sad/happy kinda way. You know?! Hang in there, Katie! Each stage is such a gift :)

  12. Um, those shoes?! ADORABLE!

For me, I switched to calling Lizzy a toddler when she was walking--she just didn't feel like much of a baby to me anymore!

  15. Those cankles?! sigh worthy.. love it!

Mine is still a baby. A tantrum throwing baby, but still a baby. Can she still be a baby when she's 18?!

  16. Love her outfit. And Kirsten is still a baby, if that helps. :) She's also a toddler, and a very big, independent kid. They can totally be both, in my opinion.

  17. She is too sweet!
Mia will be considered my baby forever. She's almost 1 and a 1/2 and definitely still my baby, even though I guess she is technically a toddler. I'm holding onto those squishy cheeks and chubby arms and legs just as long as I can.

  21. I can't believe how grown up she's looking! And my mom called me her baby to the day she died....so you still have a few years left. :)

  22. I agree with Gina, she'll be your baby forever. I still call my 2 1/2 year old my baby a lot.
PS If only we could get away with cankles and all that now... I'd be one hot mama! =)

  23. I vote she is a baby until the next one comes along. So, you have about 7.5 months left of calling her a baby.

  26. She is a baby as long as you want her to be a baby. Sam is still my baby and I refuse to believe anything else. :)

  27. My little man will always be my baby! He will be 14 months in a couple of weeks and he definitely has days where he "acts" like a toddler, but then every once in a while those a little "baby" will slip through. It makes you appreciate them that much more!

Oh and, of course, she is stinkin adorable!

  28. I have been given the impression that baby ends at 1. I'm not sure though. I say mommy's discretion.

    Adorable pictures, as always!
