A laugh in my own face.

Things I never thought I'd do:

-I had to buy a trashcan this week for the kitchen. A brand new overly expensive, high-tech trash can, that has a LOCKING mechanism. Let's just say that I've found one-too-many sippy cups, daddy socks, and stuffed animals hanging out inside our previous germ-hole. Yuck.

-We own a few of the most obnoxious, loud and down right insanity-inducing toys ever. You know, the ones I swore I never wanted to own. But, "oh she looooves it!"--and it sucks you in every.time.

-Stupid words. I say them. I have nicknames for her stuffed animals, special toys, for nighttime, naptime, bathtime, etc. I say baby'ish things. Not to be confused with talking in a baby voice. I don't do that.

-I bought her water shoes. You guys, water shoes are hideous. And I bought them for her because she neeeeeeded them for the times we go to the splash park, for around the pool and on the deck. The good news is I found the least hideous pair I could, but--WATER SHOES? Next thing you know I'll be letting her pick out sneakers with disney characters on them. I know, I know. Wild

-I had to child-lock a few cabinets in my kitchen because it was driving me nuts to pick up sippy cup parts 9382908x a day. I know, I'm such a fun-sucker. She still has access to all the drawers and to two cabinets though. I'm not that bad.

-I know all the words to every song on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and the sad truth is it didn't even take me that many episodes to learn them.

Yes, she's dancing.
But, she looooves it. Can't you tell?

Being a mom to a toddler (gasp) will sure change a girl.

Happy Wednesday!

  3. Lol!!!! I felt like that the first time I bought my son Crocs. So ugly and he loves them so much. But what is worse is that I bought him Jibbitz to put on them!! Who am I becoming???????

  4. Those mickey mouse clubhouse songs are CATCHY, though!

  5. Oh yeah, they suck you in. Hubby and I find ourselves listening to the kids' CDs when they aren't in the car. And we may or may not sing along.

  6. I hate to admit that Disney princess shirts, jammies, sippy cups, bathing suit (no shoes....yet) are all over this house :-) I never thought I would be that mom either, but it is so hard to resist when her little eyes light up at the sight of "punzel" (rapunzel)---I am such a sucker :-)

  9. None of these are as bad as this confession: I WANT Cooper to love the Hot Dog song. He won't watch tv, but we will turn MMCH on and when the song starts, I pick him up and dance to it. Yep. He does like it but would never do it on his own, haha :)

  10. Oh how things change when we become a Mom!!! Where did you find water shoes small enough for her?

  11. Luckily Connor hasn't discovered cabinets... however, i did have to wash his hands twice because he was playing in the toilet!

  12. Haha! I'm not a fan of letting Bennett watch tv, but Mickey is a must some days! I find myself saying, " Oh Toodles" several times a day. :)

  13. Hahaha. :) Jon and I already use weird names for random things, and I'm sure it will only gets worse once Baby J gets here! And oh my look at her thighs!! SO CUTE! :) I love chubby baby legs! :)

  14. Thanks for putting that song into my head for the day...haha...it's so funny how you end up doing all the things you said you wouldn't once you have a child of your own. Wild!

  15. Haha! Mickey Mouse songs get stuck in my head all the time now! I let Isabelle watch them in the morning while I am getting dressed and it took me almost 2 months to actually SEE the hotdog dance and not just hear it. She LOVES that show! Disney is genius.

  16. Um, I definiately dance along with the hot dog dance. My kid thinks I'm crazy. Oh well...it's catchy!

  17. Haha...... I have to admit that I sing and dance to those songs and I'm just a pseudo aunt to children. I keep trying to do Goofy's dance to that song, but my legs don't work that way.

Same way with babyish talk vs baby voice.

  18. I am right up there with you on Mickey Mouse Club House! I am sure I sound a fool, but she's worth it and singing along puts me in a ridicously good mood. I'm weird.

  19. I just got that song out of my head from this morning when the kiddos watched it and now? It's baaaaaack! :)

  20. GAP has some adorable ladybug water shoes with matching swimsuit and hat!

  21. I am so happy to hear I am not the only mom who doesn't buy her kid character stuff! My neighbor tells me I am a bad mom because I said that even when she is older I won't let her wear character things...ewwwww! Bad mom or not I am her mom and I decide what she wears no one else :)

  22. I still haven't busted out the water shoes yet...so far, the jellies have been okay.

But I WOULD put child locks on every door and surface in our house if it wasn't such a PITA. And I just realized that our hutch where we keep the small amount of alcohol we have doesn't have a child lock. Talk about mom fail!

  25. Been there! It happens to us all and change is not always a bad thing. MMCH songs are quick to learn/remember and hard to forget as the day goes by lol

  26. HAHA!! Those pics are SO cute!!!! :)

  27. Ha! I made sure to get Trey his water shoes a few months ago! I love them! We need them when we go camping @ the river! :) BUT...I DO hate character clothing! Shirts, shoes, hats, etc...not my thing. (Dora, Toy Story, Mickey Mouse) NOPE!

PS: Gotta love those toddler shoes. Trey only watches Sprout, and Super Why and The Wiggles and knows ALL the songs!!! :) :) :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. I never did character clothes. And I wouldn't let my kids watch Barney, The Wiggles, or Yo Gabba Gabba. I stuck to those things.

Everything else, though? I SO laugh at my before-babies self. All those "I nevers" have come to bite me in the ass.

  29. HA! I swore off cheesy baby stuff before Addie arrived and now its in every room of my house!! Funny how we thought we had it all figured out before we became mommas:)

  30. Right there with you on all of them. Also, where'd you find non-hideous water shoes?

    ReplyDelete
  31. I remember when my parents had to put child locks on all of the cabinets for my sister. Next up...the fridge. She was in it ALL the time!! Good luck!! {these are the fun times you will look back and laugh at}

  32. I think she is such a cutie, the pics always make me laugh.

  33. Right there with you :) Also, that new Pirate Band, I know all their jams. And almost like them. And find myself watching Disney during nap time. Sigh.. who am I??

BG actually got a cute(ish) pair of water shoes for her birthday. Even if the shoes aren't cute, the girl wearing them is! Same for Eme!

  34. don't worry, I know every song on the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse as well. The hot dog song is our fav. I find myself singing it to my daughter Sophia even when it's not on. It looks like she loves it too!

  35. Sheeeesh, I love your blog. You never cease to crack me up. Eme is precious...please post a video of her dancing to Mickey Mouse! That would totally make my day. Hope you're having a great week, sweet friend. Thanks for your encouragement!
