It's safe to assume....

She hates her halloween costume.

It really is quite sad, because this little piggy is adorably cute--but Emeline wants nothing to do with the hood, which is the ENTIRE POINT to this costume. Welcome to the fun toddler years. Last year was so adorably sweet, because she sat still in her little horse/giraffe costume, and just complied. This year is fun because she can toddle around, and yet, she won't keep her dang costume on. Figures.

The best thing about this costume is that her piggy noise? A scrunched up face and then she breathes heavily through her nose as if to "oink", but it sounds more like she's about to hack up a loogie.

I'm sad because I totally forgot to get her pig noise on the video below. And also, I'm sad because I said, "Ducks flap their arms". Fail. They flap their.....wings. And also, at the end when my dog barks, she calls him "Daisy" (my parents dog). But despite all the errors, it's worth a look. Because kids doing their animals noises? Priceless, man.

So tonight, we will go trick-or-treating. With a kid in a puffy pink vest who will have coordinating leggings and onesie, but will not resemble a pig since she won't keep the dang hood up, and she'll beg for candy like the best of 'em 'cuz I taught her well.

And then, all the candy will be mine, because who in their right mind gives an 18 month old candy? So, it sounds like a good deal to me.

Have a happy day, friends.

  1. Haha. E is making monkey sounds now lol. He and Emeline would make cute friends! Good luck with the hood...maybe she will change her mind? Ours also has a hood and so far he likes it, but obviously that could change at any moment.

  3. She is so sweet!
That's too bad that she hates her costume. I'm sure she'll have fun though.

  4. We love our animal sounds around here! In fact, there are more animal sounds than actual words for the most part!

W won't wear his costume either. There goes that. So now we learn to pick costumes that don't involve anything on his head! And he's not really even bribable (sp?) yet. You wear this...you get.... ;)

  8. Can't wait to watch the video when I'm not at work, but a friend here this morning said her daughter wouldn't keep her costume on either. But she told her that she couldn't get candy without it on, and bingo! It worked for her. Worth a try! :)

  9. Eh, don't worry about it. People will still think she's adorable. N refuses to put ANYTHING on his head, and hated wearing the monkey hood last year. Oh, and her animal noises were so cute! I think the arm flapping might've been my favorite. :)

  11. We still laugh about the year my niece Shelby was Elmo, but wouldn't wear the hood so she just looked like a big ball of red fluff. That same year, my other niece Payton would tell people, "I'm supposed to be a princess, but I changed my mind. Now I'm a doctor." LOL...ahhh toddlers!

  14. I honestly don't know WHY they make those type of costumes for little ones. None of mine wanted to wear ANYTHING like that either!

I got a ladybug one for K at the re-sale shop but she'll have NOTHING to do with the antennae "hat" that is supposed to go with it. I knew better. So, she's going as something else entirely...

    Love her noises! So cute!

  16. Too Cute. My Katelyn, last year, was this adorable rainbow chicken, and she hated it too. This year she's a cowgirl and I can't get her to wear her cowgirl hat, should have known!

  17. I hope her peacock outfit turns out! But she sure was a cute little pig!!

I can't believe how big she is getting. In the last what, 10 months I have been reading your blog, she has just gotten so big, a mind of her own and is all over the place! Sweet to watch them grow up!

  19. OMG THE HORSE/GIRAFFE THING! Haha! I totally remember half the people swore it was a horse, and the other half swore it was a giraffe. Lmao. I can't believe that was a year ago.
