A win, then a fail.

Within a few days of sweet Lucy being home I was doing good. I'd taken some of her newborn photos, I even designed her sweet birth announcement, fixed it a million times, and finally loved it enough to get it printed.

Then, I had one hour out alone one afternoon where I ran from different printing facilities to test the quality and cardstock it'd be sent on. It was crazy because one place printed all yellow'ey, and another too washed out. So I brought them all home to have Declan help me pick the best quality.

So he did. And that's where it stopped.

I cut one, had it on my fridge and all, for weeks.

I never did get back out to get them printed and cut. And here we are. My baby turns 2 months old this week. I have no desire nor the time to print them, address them, pay for stamps, and do all that. I really thought I would, but I finally made the decision it's just not happening.

So basically? I fail.

It was a good effort. But that's about all it was.

Classic second child syndrome, I suppose. Sorry, Luce. Still love ya, girl. xoxo.

love,
momfail

  1. I dropped the ball on birth announcements for my first son, so the for the second, I didn't even try! I was weird about making sure I didn't do something for one that I did for the other! Crazy, I know! The announcements are beautiful by the way! :)

  2. Hey, at least you have one. That's all you need for her baby book. She'll never know she's the only one with a copy!

  3. Those are so perfectly beautiful! Maybe you can just use something like Shutterfly? I am sure you would melt so many hearts if you sent those out. They are THAT AWESOME!

  4. That's adorable! I can't believe how much she's changed already and that it will TWO months next week! Woah. How did THAT happen!

And, if it makes you feel any better, Jamie's birth announcement proofs are still sitting, unprinted, in my Shutterfly projects folder. Adam and I never could agree on one and then when I went back to work at 6 weeks I figured it was too late and chalked it up as a loss. Mom Fail.

  5. You should still send them out! They are beautiful :) and people would love to receive them even if she is 2 months old already!

LOVE your blog, btw. I'm a fairly new reader and finally commenting!

  6. Jake is 7, I had his baby scrapbook done within months of his birth. I started Kendall's book yesterday, Yay me! Oh wait...did I mention she is 4? Yeah, it happens.

  7. If you are a second time mom fail'er, I'm a first time mom fail. I NEVER sent out Lizzy's -- and when I was finally slightly motivated, she was like 6 months old. Oy. Either way -- GORGEOUS. :) Email a link to everyone.

  8. I dropped the ball too with my second. I was so overwhelmed with the thought of being responsible for 2 lives, I forgot about birth announcements.

  10. Yeah seriously, nobody will care that she's 2 months. I'm sure they'd still love to get them! I know I would! I like the link idea. Zero hassle. :) And out of curiosity, which place had the best quality?

  11. at least you've got a copy for yourself! :) you'll have that for the memory book! (if you have one...cause I don't)! HA! This is really cute! You did a great job!

  13. I never sent birth announcements with my first son. I did with my second though but I cheated and added it with the Christmas picture I sent out when Luke was 4 months. I felt like I should though because I have people I send Christmas cards to states away and that's my only contact with them- so I figured if I didn't they'd be like "oh look- there's another kid on the Christmas photo- when did Amanda have him- I didn't even know she was pregnant!"

It's ok you didn't send them- at least everyone still gets to enjoy seeing it!

  14. Adorable! I did the same exact thing with my second. I still put it in his baby book as if I actually used it. Strangely with my 3rd I got them sent out when she was 2 weeks.

Oh well...thanks to the internet announcements aren't really necessary. Super cute design though. I would still send them. People love having a cute baby to hang on their fridge.

  17. This is too cute not to send out! Do you have thank you cards to send??? Use it for that! Or don't...but...seriously...people would love to get this in the mail late or not :)

  18. So sweet! Im loving that purple!! Also, I loooove her name! And the first/middle combination is perfect. It just matches her already! The first few weeks after I had Cade, I felt like I was killing it in the mom department. I was all like, puuh lease. What is the big deal with having 2?! And then my adrenaline ran out, maybe???? I don't know, but I feel like the most simple things are hard now. It's so frustrating, but this, too, shall pass. Sooner rather than later would be nice, thankyouverymuch! Ha!

  20. If I remember correctly, I sent the girls announcements out with our Christmas cards. They were born in July! I had already printed them though so better late than never I suppose.

  21. Ohhh the poor 2nd child. My poor Liv has been neglected when it comes to so much of this...pics, baby book, etc. Eh, what's a busy mama to do?! Just keep trying :)

  22. Amanda stole my comment. But absolutely. It will just be your and Declan's little secret (oh, and the blogosphere). Put the one you have (adorable BTW) in her baby book, and call it a day. Mommy success!

p.s. My kids are 7, 6, and 6 and there has been no attempt at a baby book. That my friend is a failure.
